1905 Barn at Rocky R Ranch, Lopez Island, June 27, 2021

This old (1905) barn sits at the lower edge of a sweeping field that has one of the most incredible views of the Straits of Juan de Fuca in all of the San Juan Islands, the Rocky R Ranch, owned by Dick and Kathy Lea. As I painted, a husband and wife team were picking-up hay bales (Don and LeAnn Burt). Don proudly pointed out that his great great grandfather had built this beautiful barn where they still store hay, in 1905.
