About this work
This rare periodic waterway near Moab in October cut a beautiful path through the red rock of the small canyon, in late afternoon light. I heard and then saw a horse and rider coming through, as I worked . . . and up popped the song lyrics from America "A Horse with No Name". You know - " I've been through the desert on a horse with no name - It felt good to be out of the rain - in the desert you can remember your name, cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain".
It's also what plein air painting gives you "the chance to be surprised" wherever and whenever stuff like this happens.
