Pele Roars at Kilauea, 1/28/2025

I have never had the opportunity to paint a live volcanic eruption. The odds of that ever happening again are astronomically (impossibly) high. I absolutely nailed the whole scene with this, the second of two paintings done en plein air from the "steam Vents" lookout at the crater rim.

While the opportunity to paint this is quite rare, the two paintings I did that morning are without question, my best plein air masterworks.
