Perpetual Motion

Sculptural, raised-bevel Oil painting. I have always loved the abstract patterns that moving water makes, inspired by observations dating back to my childhood days staring into the creeks and rivers in the Idaho wilderness. Maintaining the motion of the water without a horizon reference is always a challenge. The "circular canvas" armature creates a 3-D wall sculptural paitning, allowing a 360 degree rotation on any wall, to create a totally new orientation. The diameter is 37", with a 2'' raised bevel edge, on stretched, triple primed Belgian linen canvas, which also serves as the "frame" for this painting. The strong, lightweight cabinet grade plywood armature has an inner circle (plywood) that allows the painting to hang perfectly flat and rotate easily on a standard picture hanger or nail. The piece you see here was photographed on a warm colored gallery wall.
