Mt. St. Victoire, near Cezanne's Studio

Painted on-site in late afternoon light from an apartment in Aix, France, that afforded a great view of the mountain with late afternoon light striking the buildings and roof tops. About 1/2 mile from Cezanne's atelier. He painted this iconic mountain dozens of times over his lifetime, also greatly influencing Pablo Picasso, who is buried at Chateau Vauvenargue at the base of this mountain. An exibit of both artists' masterworks was on dispay at the museum in Aix, when we visited in September 2009.
