Wild Seas at Kaiaka Rock

Kaiaka Rock is a well known landmark on the west side of Molokai Island that provides a very dramatic promontory for high seas and big surf, exact;y the type of "action" I am constantly looking for when I paint outdoors.

This day, big winds (30 mph) were still pounding the entire Hawaiian Island Archipelago with waves crashing into the beach and across the face of the rock.

You can actually feel and hear the surf standing this close to the edge, which for me is the essence of the whole scene.
