Afternoon at Vernazza Italy
Sold
Painted a year ago from reference studies and sketches done in the Cinque Terre, Italy with Vernazza Village in beautiful sunlight. The reddish mountain in the background is Monte Rosso, which affords a gorgeous hike over the precipitous terrain to the next village of Monterosso.
"Don't look down" is a good rule for hiking this very steep terrain that winds through ancient vineyards and olive groves above the villages. I loved how the sudden breeze shifted the moored boats like dancers, while the rower created a riffle in the opposite dictation, while heading out of the harbor,
Its one of my all-time favorite paintings and certainly is an area to re-visit soon for more painting sessions! "Cinque" is the Italian word for five, the number of villages strung along the Ligurian Sea of northern Italy.
Framed with Optium Museum Acrylic in 4 1/4" wide bronzed wood molding.
