Fisherman Bay Winter Sunset

Painted at the Weeks wetland preserve adjacent to Lopez Village in late November. Loved the warm, rich colors of the wetland grasses against the deep, dark distant trees with a winter sun blasting across the estuary.

This painting won a top award and honor (The Maggie Price Award) at the Northwest Pastel Society International Juried Competition, June 2024 at The Matzke Gallery, Camano Island, WA. Maggie Price was a co-founder of the Pastel Journal Magazine 25 years ago.

It also won "Best Plein Air Pastel" in the August monthly competition in Plein Air Magazine Annual Salon competition, with 865 entries from 25 countries.

April 27, 2025 It was also selected for "The Top 40" in the 14th Annual Plein Air Salon Competition awards category.
